live most of their lives at sea, but they return to land to form breeding colonies on
famous bird cliffs in northern and western Norway and on Svalbard. They build their
nests during spring and summer, burrowing in the soil when available, or in crevices in the
cliffs. In May or June they lay their eggs, and both males and females incubate the eggs.
